在科研上，我系教师积极申报并参与各级教改、教研项目，发表相关学术论文，出版各类相关专著。至今，谢世坚教授已发表论文50多篇，主持国家级项目 1 项，省部级项目 1 项，并参与国家及其他各级项目多项，出版专著1部，译著7部；袁斌业教授发表论文近40篇，主持教育部项目1项、广西社科项目1项，参与国家及其他级别项目多项，出版专著3部、译著2部，并多次获得广西社会科学研究成果奖；刘玲慧副教授发表论文10多篇，主持区级教改项目、校级教改项目，及校级科研项目各1项，出版译著2部，编著2部；冯丽霞老师发表论文10多篇，主持省级科研项目1项，校级教改项目1项，参与国家及其他各级项目多项，出版译著2部，编著2部。彭国媛老师主持校级教改项目2项，发表论文3篇；崔凯、汪莹、周漓云、老师各主持校级项目1项，发表论文多篇。何璇老师参与厅级科研项目和教改项目2项，发表论文2篇。刘子瑜老师参与区级教改项目1项，发表论文6篇。
The Department of Translation and Interpreting was founded in 2001. In 2005, the department was renamed Section for Translation Teaching and Research. In 2014, with the admission of translation undergraduates, the section was renamed again the Department of Translation and Interpreting
The Department is staffed by 12 dedicated and professional full-time teachers, among whom there is 1 associate professor and 2 professors with doctorate degrees. 4 Members are 35 years old and younger, and 5 members are 36 to 45, each accounting for 33% and 42% of the total. Teachers with doctoral degrees and teachers with master’s degrees respectively cover 17% and 75% of the staff number. Teachers in the Department Manila conduct research in such areas as comparison of English and Chinese, teaching of translation and interpreting, theory and practice of translation and interpreting. 10 out of 12 of its staff members have overseas studying or work experience, and all the teachers have studied or worked in well-known universities both home and abroad as University of California, Cambridge University, University of Bath, Nipissing University, East China Normal University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies etc., which has helped to build the teachers with a solid foundation of professional knowledge, advaned teaching methods and philosophy, and distinct professional characterics. The Department also has a few extramural part-time supervisors and hires 4-5 foreign experts each year. And it has established and maintains an academic and personnel exchange relationship with a number of overseas universities.
Teachers in the Department perform the duty of imparting knowledge and educating people consciously and strictly , and devote their energy to undergraduate teaching. On average, professors and associate professors undertake 2 to 3 undergraduate courses per semester, while young teachers teach an average of 3 to 4 courses each semester. The number of professors and associate professors who mainly teach undergraduate courses accounts for 100% of the total professors and associate professors; and the undergraduate courses taught by professors and associate professors make up 30% of the total undergraduate courses.In addition to the routine undergraduate teaching, teachers are also in charge ofthe undergraduates second classroom training activities,Undergraduate Training Program for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, graduation thesis (design), as well as a variety of related discipline competitions. Teachers in translation team helped students win prizes in the Han Suyin Youth Translation Award Competition. With their elaborate guidance, students are awarded provincial or national prizes in Guangxi Translation Competition and “FLTRP CUP” National English Reading and Writing Contest for College Studentsevery year. What’s more, teachers in interpretation team also have helped students receive awards in “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Contest,“Chinese Translation Cup”(Interpretation) National Interpreters Competition and “LSCAT Cup” National Interpreters Competition.
In scientific research, teachers of our department actively apply for and participate in all levels of educational reform and teaching research projects, published relevant academic papers, and published various related monographs. So far, Professor Xie Shijian has published over 50 papers, presided over 1 national-level project, 1 provincial and ministerial level project, and participated in a number of national and other projects at all levels, published 1 monograph and 7 translations; Professor Yuan Binye published nearly 40 papers, presided over 1 project of the Ministry of Education, 1 Guangxi Social Science Project, participated in a number of national and other level projects, published 3 monographs, 2 translations, and has won the Guangxi Social Science Research Achievement Award many times; Associate Professor Liu Linghui published more than 10 articles, presided over 1 provincial level educational reform project, 1 university-level educational reform project, and 1 university-level research project, published 2 translations and 2 compilations; Feng Lixia has published over 10 papers, presided over 1 provincial level scientific research project, 1 school-level educational reform project, participated in many projects at national and other levels, published 2 translations and 2 compilations. Peng Guoyuan presided over 1 university-level educational reform project 2, published 3 papers; Cui Kai, Wang Ying, Zhou Liyun each presided over a university-level project, published many articles. He Xuan participated in 1 scientific research project and 1 educational reform project, published 2 papers. Liu Ziyu participated in 1 district-level educational reform project, published 6 papers.
